Ondernemerschap voor brede welvaart vraagt om nieuw beleidsdenken

Van ondernemerschap wordt verondersteld dat het bijdraagt aan welvaart, maar is die aanname terecht? De relatie tussen ondernemerschap en economische groei is ruimschoots aangetoond. Maar welvaart is meer dan economische groei en over de relatie tussen ondernemerschap en brede welvaart is veel minder bekend. In dit artikel plaatsen we de relatie tussen ondernemerschap en brede welvaart binnen het raamwerk van de capabilitiesbenadering. Deze benadering biedt een theoretische basis om de maatschappelijke effecten van ondernemerschap in kaart te brengen. Dit welvaartstheoretische kader biedt beleidsmakers handvatten om ondernemerschapsbeleid vorm te geven en te evalueren, zodat het bijdraagt aan het verbeteren van welvaart in brede zin.
